Step-by-step admission workflow :

  1. Official notification & seat-matrix publication

DTE / CAP portal publishes the Information Brochure, calendar (registration, verification, option-filling, allotment, reporting) and the seat matrix (institute × course × category). This notice specifies how many CAP rounds will run for that course. Always check the brochure first.

  2. Candidate registration (online)

Candidates must register on the DTE/CAP portal within the registration window, create login credentials, fill personal and academic details and pay the application fee (if applicable). Save login details for future use.

  3. Choose scrutiny mode & upload documents

Select e-scrutiny (online verification) or physical scrutiny (visit facilitation centre). Upload scanned documents as per size and format rules. Outside Maharashtra and special category candidates must follow additional instructions.

  4. Provisional merit list published

A provisional merit list is published category-wise showing the candidate’s provisional merit position. Candidates must verify the details carefully.

  5. Grievance / correction window

A limited grievance window is provided to submit corrections or raise discrepancies through the portal.

  6. Final merit list & seat-matrix for CAP Round I

After grievance resolution, the final merit list and updated seat matrix are published institute-wise, course-wise and category-wise.

  7. Option form / Choice filling (CAP Round I)

Candidates must fill and lock their ordered list of institute and course preferences. The order of choices directly impacts allotment.

  8. CAP Round I allotment

Based on merit, reservation rules and preferences, the system displays the provisional allotment and instructions for acceptance.

  9. Acceptance of allotted seat (online)

Candidates must accept the seat online and pay the confirmation fee (if specified). Failure to pay within the deadline results in seat forfeiture.

  10. Physical reporting to institute

After acceptance, candidates report to the allotted institute with original documents to complete admission formalities.

  11. Freeze / Float / Slide / Cancel
    • Freeze: Confirm seat and exit CAP
    • Float: Accept seat and try for higher preference
    • Slide: Upgrade branch within same institute
    • Cancel: Exit CAP process

Options vary by course and round — check official notice.

  12. Vacancy list & subsequent CAP rounds

Vacant seats are displayed and used for subsequent rounds until the CAP schedule ends.

  13. Spot / institute-level admissions

After CAP completion, remaining seats may be filled via institute-level or spot admissions as per DTE rules.

  14. Finalisation & cut-off publication

Final admitted lists and cut-offs are published course-wise and category-wise. Admissions close as per brochure deadline.
